Technical advisory services require a combination of engineering, commercial, legal, and financial knowledge and skillsets, as well as systems thinking, complex problem solving, risk management and innovation.

Often, the delivery of technical advisory services requires us to partner with external experts in the fields of finance, law, and the environment. We have strong relationships with leading firms in each of these fields who we work with regularly when delivering such services. We are able to act as an anchor advisor to our client, mobilising and aligning all inputs from the combined advisory team.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

OEG has an in-depth understanding of the development process for infrastructure projects within our key sectors of energy, telecommunications, and water.

This includes prospecting for project opportunities and early-stage project conceptualisation, then taking the project through the various stages of development (e.g. pre-feasibility, feasibility, permitting, procurement, contracting, and funding) up to financial close / investment decision, then to execution, implementation and operation.

We can act as a project development advisor or a co-developer (in selected cases which meet our investment criteria).

When acting as a project development advisor to our clients, we support projects regardless of their structure or funding type. For example, we assist both Government and Private Sector clients to develop projects within their own project development and funding frameworks and which meet their own investment criteria. This includes Government-owned projects, Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects, or private sector projects, whether they be Government-funded, corporate financed, or project financed.

When acting as a co-developer, our focus is on projects where a special purpose vehicle (SPV) or project company can be established, which ring-fences the project from other business operations.

TECHNICAL

OEG uses its in-house technical expertise to lead project identification, design, engineering, procurement, and construction. According to specific projects needs, we will also engage external technology suppliers and manufacturers, EPC and various other contractors, and subject matter experts.

PROJECT STRUCTURING & FUNDING

Project structuring and funding sources will be identified and developed jointly between OEG and our partners.  We work with financial advisory firms, private equity firms, development finance institutions (DFIs), commercial lenders, and other investors.

LEGAL & REGULATORY

Our legal partners assist us to deliver on legal and regulatory matters. Including review of statutes and regulations to understand their provisions and adequacy for project development, development of suitable contracts and agreements, and negotiating contracts to achieve the best outcomes.

ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Our environmental, social and economic development partners assist in screening projects for potential risks and applicable approvals or permitting requirements, conducting the required environmental, social and economic development impact studies, obtaining the relevant approvals and permits, and developing practical management plans and strategies for implementation.
