Approximately 68% of Africa’s population has access to an electricity grid. Many of those with access to electricity are faced with rising costs, poor security of supply (load shedding), and significant greenhouse gas emissions due to fossil fuel generation (such as coal and diesel) still providing most of the electricity generated.
